In this post I’m sharing a few Summer outfit ideas that include this long cardigan. You might know by now my Summer outfit ideas always include a little cellulite camo and this long duster cardigan helps that cause. I’m actually working on a post exclusively talking about how I’ve reduced the appearance of the dimpling I have on the back of my thighs but until then – this long striped cardigan is perfect coverage.
Because I live in New England I wear cardigans year round. This one happens to be very thin so it’s perfect for Spring and cool Summer nights. I broke my (flimsy)rule of not buying multiples of one item and I have this EXACT cardigan in blue and pink; which are no longer available but you can see outfit ideas that include them here and here.
This cardigan can be apart of so many Summer outfit ideas like over skinny jeans, shorts, a dress, or even to the beach as a cover-up (I spared you that look). It’s lightweight and thin so it’s always great for travel. I am wearing a size small in this long cardigan.
You’ll see I’m wearing the same gold lariat necklace in all of these posts. I love a long simple piece like this delicate Gorjana piece. I do not invest in sunglasses because I drop them so often, but all of the pairs I am wearing in this post are under $15. If you recall in this recent post I talked about how I do invest in an every neutral handbag such as this Rebecca Minkoff tassel hobo. The leather is so soft, and the color is light enough for Summer but doesn’t show dirt easily.
A great white tank top and denim shorts are essential wardrobe pieces for me in the Summer. Both the tank top and denim shorts I am suggesting here are very affordable without sacrificing quality. And speaking of quality – have you checked out Jefferey Campbell shoes? My perforated wedges are from this brand, but I am loving so many pairs they have on Nordstrom’s website right now. That one of the things I love most about Nordstrom. They stock the save and splurge items in one store. I can get my $18 tank top in the same shopping cart as my $150 shoes.
In many of these pictures my hair was Day 2 after using the largest barrel (1.5 inch) of the T3 Wand Trio. I normally use the smaller (1 inch) straight barrel for long, loose waves. The large barrel gives more of a polished/blow-out look to those of us who need time-saving hair hacks. My hair is long so the large barrel would provide more volume to someone with shorter locks. I’m working on some upcoming posts devoted to hair and beauty favorites and the T3 curling wands, while definitely an investment, are something I highly recommend. The set comes with a heat glove if you’re just getting the knack of using a wand. I used another wand(with glove) for almost a year, but I made the switch to the T3 wands a couple months back and they definitely give longer lasting curls.
Some of you have asked how I have time to do my hair with kids. It takes me under 15 minutes to curl my hair and I don’t do it more than 2 times a week. I generally wash my hair about 3 times a week, but occasionally only twice. To extend my hair between showers, my favorite dry shampoos from Nordstrom are the Living Proof Dry Shampoo Spray and the R and Co Dry Shampoo Paste. The paste gives your hair a lot more texture. After using the dry shampoo paste on my silky/flat hair the roots become tacky. I like the texturizing aspect of the product. I find by Day 3 my hair (and all its postpartum fly aways) stays up in a ponytail or topknot much better when I use the texturizing dry shampoo.
And finally…since it’s shorts season and some of you have requested workout ideas I’m including my usual gym routine for those who asked. My gym workouts are short. I always have a kid in the daycare so I am in and out in under an hour. I post a lot of my favorite workout tunes on Instastories while I’m running (or shortly after if I’m going fast). I ALWAYS get through treadmill workouts by switching up the speed/incline every minute or so. Here is an example of a 30 minute treadmill workout I would do:
I made the image easily Pinable if you use Pinterest. I would follow this treadmill workout (or a variation of it) with a few sets of squats, lunges, crunches, and the girliest girl pushups you ever saw. If you like to run faster or slower than me just adjust the speeds accordingly to what would be a jog (6 mph for me) vs. a fast run (8 mph for me).
I’d love to hear what you guys are thinking. What are your favorite Summer outfit ideas or time saving workouts?
Thank you to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post. The opinions included are my own.
