3 Ways to Style a Kimono in Late Summer

As we are approaching fall, I thought it would be helpful to share ideas on how you can wear a kimono in late summer as a fall transitional layering piece. Kimonos are great as swim coverups, but they’re quite useful to take into fall as well.

Animal print is always a huge trend for fall so the main styling piece I’ll be featuring is this leopard print kimono. These 3 styling ideas would work for any printed kimono you want to wear… so make sure to check out all the print and knit caftans and kimonos Sole Society carries.

Style a Kimono with Jeans

The first way to style a kimono is my go-to casual look – with jeans and a basic tee! I’m wearing Wit and Wisdom skinny jeans and I love the slight distressing. This would be a great early fall outfit because the low Sole Society Becie bootie pairs well with ankles jeans or shorts. The Sole Society Lyssa tote I’m carrying is the perfect sized bag to hold everyday essentials. Also, the color is a great neutral so it can easily be matched with your outfits and it has an optional shoulder strap.

Style a Kimono for Warm Weather

For dealing with warmer weather, switch out the jeans for denim shorts (I sized up one in this pair). Similar to the jeans from the first look, I love the distressing on these shorts. As for shoes, instead of fall booties, you can pair your kimono look with sandals or wedges. I’m wearing a tan strappy Sole Society wedge sandal (true to size).

Style a Kimono Dressed Up

Want to spice up a basic dress for a date night outfit? Throw on this leopard kimono! The tall boots make it sway more towards a fall outfit. For a right now outfit, you can always switch the boots for a pair of heels. Did you see the drool-worthy taupe heels I featured in this blog post?

Another cute way to style a kimono is to wear it as a swim coverup for a beach trip, to the pool, etc. As you guys can see, there are so many ways to wear a kimono. Which is your favorite? Or do you guys have any other suggestions on how you would wear a kimono as a layering piece? I would love to hear from you in the comments below.
