Affordable Large Wall Art For the Living Room

Hey guys! Today I’m partnering with Walmart and Art.com to share this affordable large artwork I just hung above our living room sofa. If you follow along on Instagram stories you probably know we had our house on the market for 2 weeks this summer. We took it off pretty quickly because we hadn’t found our dream house and didn’t want to feel pressured to settle. For now we are staying put which allowed me to take on home decor updates I’d been wanting to do for awhile.

One thing I’d been wanting to tackle was changing the space above the living room sofa. I wanted something more neutral and coastal than the large farmhouse clock that had been hanging there for years. We are also still house hunting, so I wanted something that didn’t break the bank since I can’t be sure such large wall art will work in a future home.

The prior wall decor was a large, dark clock.

Enter Walmart! Who knew? Besides great fashion they also now have great home decor – including wall art. I sectioned off the art page by “coastal art” because I wanted the pieces I chose to be cohesive with the rest of my decor. Based on the size of the wall I was pretty sure I wanted two side by side frames.

Living Room Wall Art – the Before

Here is our house when we had the inspection before we purchased it.

I was having trouble findings two pieces that flowed the way I wanted so I used a trick I learned from my friend Aylin. I bought two of the same pictures and hung one upside down. I chose a water color glacial mountain landscape print that is abstract enough so it doesn’t stick out as being hung the “wrong” way. I have the large size (24″ x 32″) and each print was under $14!! You can buy these prints already framed in 2 different sizes as well.

Because I framed the art myself this decor refresh was very affordable and I got just the look I was going for! Whether your style is farmhouse, abstract, or coastal Walmart offers so many options for affordable wall art. Here are my prints as well as some other pieces I loved that I saw while I was browsing Walmart.com:

I also grabbed a couple new pillows while I was refreshing this space. Some of the pillows you see mixed in are from the first home I purchased when I finished nursing school more than a decade ago. An update could be considered overdue :). Pillow covers can be VERY expensive depending where you shop. I think these linen trimmed pillows look much more expensive than they actually are. I switched out the fill for some down inserts I had at home because I am partial to the karate chop look when it comes to couch pillows. I loved the “white” pillow covers so much I went on to buy the “light blue”.

I think these pieces really brighten the room a bit more. What do you think? Also – because I know this will come up – the paint color is “Revere Pewter” by Benjamin Moore. If I were doing it over today I would lighten the paint just a bit. On rainy days it appears much darker than pictured here.

Thanks so much for stopping by!! I hope to have a NEW HOME (in law-suite included) to share soon.

Thank you to Walmart for sponsoring this post.

I love the prints you found at Walmart, so I checked the site and found one I want to order for my dining room! One question: did you have the prints custom framed, or did you buy your frames separately? I really like the frames you picked!

I Francesca! I was particular to a certain color of frame I was looking for and found it on a site called Frame It Easy. Thanks!
