Clean beauty is a thing I think a lot of us aim for but it can be hard to find products that are both effective and free from controversial ingredients. I don’t consider myself a clean beauty expert but I do look for brands that seem to be more focused on this movement. Some of the cleaner beauty brands I have loved come from brands including: Honest Beauty, Beautycounter, Tarte Cosmetics, and Farmacy.
1.) Lip Products
These two from Beautycounter are great for those of us who like nude or soft pink neutrals. This lipgloss is the shade “bare shimmer” and isn’t too sticky but also doesn’t slide right off. I will use it alone or dab it in the center of my lower lip over a lipstick with more color if I am going out.
The sheer lipstick isn’t so sheer you won’t notice it. I have the shade “lily” and it’s a soft pink that’s moisturizing without being so wet it comes off within a few minutes. You can see the shade on here:
Vitamin C Serum
Prior to switching to Beautycounter’s Vitamin C Serum, I was using the Drunk Elephant Vitamin C Serum. Both are pretty expensive but I definitely noticed less breakouts and more even skin tone when I started using Beautycounter’s serum.
One of the other products that helped when I was getting breakouts was this Tula resurfacing toner. I have a discount code should you be interested in purchasing anything from Tula – PINTERESTINGPLANS15. I really like their day/night moisturizing cream because it’s very hydrating like a cream but absorbs quickly.
Sunless Self Tanner
I mix these Tanologist tanning drops into my moisturizer once a day and they give a healthy glow to those of us dodging sun on their face. They have different shades available, because it summer I am using the shade “dark”.
Shape Tape has long been my favorite concealer. Every time I stray away from it I go back – for years it’s been my go-to. I use the shade “light neutral” and blend it out with a damp beauty sponge. These Amazon sponges are a great alternative to brand name Beauty Blenders. You can use the code PINTERESTING to take a dollar off the save sponges through July 20.
Shape Tape has good staying power but in the summer I set it with powder. The one I’m using now is the Laura Mercier secret brightening powder. Unfortunately this is not a clean brand so I’m planning to try Beautycounter powder when the one I am using now runs out.
The Honest mascara is another product I’ve been using for years now. One side is a lash primer and the other end of the tube is mascara. It’s SUPER lengthening and doesn’t flake off. After about 2 months I notice it gets a little dry so I dip the tip under running water and it lasts another few months.
This Beautycounter bronzer in shade “dune” is a great shade for light to medium skin tones. It’s not too ashy or orange and doesn’t have shimmer if you’re like me and don’t want to highlight enlarged pores on your cheeks.
Do you check the ingredients in your beauty products? I would love to know if you have any other clean makeup/skincare recommendations. Thanks for stopping by!!
