I have two baby showers and Easter coming up in the next few weeks so I headed to Nordstrom to search their Easter dresses. In a recent post about a restyling a casual Spring dress I talked about how much I love the curbside pick-up at Nordstrom but this weekend we had 20 degree temps so I packed up my whole fam to head to the mall for “exercise”. My husband took my kids for pretzels (my paleo babies have become CARBavores) while I searched for a dress. I love that Nordstrom has dresses in every price range and for every occasion (I wanted something under $100).
I would love for you to help me narrow it down between the two dresses below. Between the 3 events I have to attend in the next month there won’t be any of the same attendees so I can rewear the same outfit if I want! The second of these Easter dresses might be a little more casual than some people wear for Easter but my holiday festivities are generally very informal.
I shot these dresses in 20 degree temperatures because we have a blizzard coming in tomorrow that is forecasted to leave up to 2 feet of snow. I will post some outtakes of my hair and dress blowing in all directions in on my Instastories and if you look closely you can probably see goosebumps.
The first dress is a taupe colored, floral embroidered, (adjustable) spaghetti strap dress. It has a keyhole front so I can’t speak to how it would wear on someone with a large chest (since clearly I don’t have that problem). I love the midi length of this dress because I’m bending over lots to picks up my little guy and I have been blessed with some cellulite on the back of my legs that I’m not so eager to show off. I have this dress in a size SMALL and it’s quite fitted in the top so I would size up if you’re between sizes or well endowed up top.
Because of the neckline on this dress your bra situation needs to be considered. You could wear an adhesive bra or strapless plunge bra. I went braless because I don’t need much support and there’s not even much left to lift. I often wear these breast petals (that I refer to as nipple camo on Instagram) under camis so that is an option as well.
I wore a simple one strap heeled sandal because the dress has so many details I felt a simple shoe would compliment it better. A simple nude heeled sandal like this is a staple in my wardrobe to wear with dresses and cropped jeans in the Spring and Summer. This block heeled sandal (in taupe) is another great option for this dress and perhaps a little easier to walk around in.
The second dress is a sleeveless turtleneck, drop waist dress. If you follow me on Instagram you know I wear a lot of neutrals. I love that the cut of this dress is unique but overall it is simple enough to add more statement accessories and really change the look. I chose to add interest with the bag and shoes but you could also dress it up with some statement jewelry like big bangle bracelets and fun statements earrings. The asymmetric hemline makes this dress long enough to be appropriate for most any function and it is under $60. I am wearing the size X-Small in this dress.
This dress can easily be dressed down with sneakers and a camo jacket to wear out for a coffee run or paired with flip flops and a light cardigan for lunch with friends. My Marc Fisher wedges in blush have been a hot item so they are in and out of stock but the t-strap version is currently available in most sizes in this pretty blush (which is very neutral and the shoes run true to size).
This camo “jacket” is more like a shirt and it has ties to cinch it more at the waist. I am wearing size XS in the camo top. The lace up booties and Rebecca Minkoff satchel bag are two of my most worn accessories. This camo shirt is about $20 cheaper than the one I am wearing above and a more classic camo print.
These perforated wedge sandals and this tote seem to be made for each other! I love that this neutral tote cleans so easily because I will be using it a lot at the park with the warmer weather around the corner (I hope). The open knit sweater cardigan is perfect as temperatures keep fluctuating. I sized up in the cardigan for a more relaxed fit.
My original thought was to get a lacy dress and restyle it with the camo jacket because I love the lace and camo combo. Here are some of the dresses I was looking at in case you are interested:
And unrelated to the clothes I wanted to mention this dry shampoo paste I have been using. I have very flat hair and it adds a lot of texture to my roots so I can actually see some volume. I use this dry shampoo to get me to at least 3rd day hair. It does make your roots feel tacky, so your hair won’t feel clean, but it does look clean (and adds more volume). A little goes a very long way with this stuff. I really like it as a texturizer and dry shampoo in one.
So I’d love to hear what you guys think. Which dress do you favor? Is the gray one dressy enough for Easter?
Thank you to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post. All opinions are my own.
