Fall Work Outfit Inspiration

As many of you know I left my job as a cardiology nurse practitioner two months ago.  My plan was to be home with my family more and get a better handle on my blog and additionally to start another healthcare job one day a week.   I started the on-boarding process with a healthcare agency but then the company that hired me became unresponsive to my emails.   After 4 attempts to reach them over a 4 week period I decided it probably wasn’t a company I wanted to work for.   Of course I was about 6 hours deep into their online training modules at that point :/ .

So for now my “work” life is as a stay at home mom who blogs 60+ hours a week amidst the chaos.  I feel extremely blessed that I was able to turn my blog from a hobby into a job THANKS TO ALL OF YOU who have supported me!!  At my current jobs there are no dress codes 🙂

I’m not quite sure what the future holds in terms of my healthcare career.   Being home with my family and connecting with all of you has been so rewarding I am happy to continue to pursue this path.   My concern with leaving healthcare is that I’ll lose my skills and not keep up with the continuing education I need to maintain my nurse practitioner certification.   So the bottom line is – we shall see….

I worked in an office for the last 8 years so workwear was a big part of my life until recently.   I followed a simple outfit formula most days.   The vast majority of my office outfits consisted of skinny pants (black or white) and a blouse or blouse/cardigan combo with heels or flats.

The Fall work outfit I am sharing today is from ModCloth.   They have workwear, dresses, and everyday casual outfits for women of all sizes.   They really shine when it comes to statement accessories.   If you’re looking to add interest to a basic work outfit consider checking out their shoes and bags.

Skinny Pants and Statement Heels

I was drawn to this blazer because of it’s caramel color.  I find this blazer runs just a bit small.  I am normally a size 2 (between and XS and Small) and the small buttoned just right with a thin shirt underneath.   If you follow me on Instagram you know I’m always raving about pajama jeans and these are pajama work pants!!   They are essentially maternity pants for the non-prego with their elastic waist making them AHmazing.   Again I went with the size small in the pants after reading some reviews that they run a tad small.  These pants are long.   I am 5’11” and you can see in the pictures the pants meet my ankles.

This white, mock neck blouse is so pretty.  I am wearing XS in the top and added a nude cami below it because it’s just a tiny bit sheer and I knew I’d be out in the heavy sunlight which could possibly accentuate that.  The T-strap heels are ADORABLE!!!   I have a pretty basic collections of heels and slides from my office days and these really steal the show in comparison.  They’re retro but still neutral and perfect with pants or dresses.   I wear size 9 shoes and went with size 40 in these heels and they fit perfectly (so true to size).

Rachel. I am sorry to hear that the job you were pursuing didn’t work out. It is a shame as you are a great NP!! If you can afford not to work in an office setting this might be for the best. Your boys will be little for a short amount of time. Like you said time will tell…
I do miss seeing you..but am thankful that I can follow you on your blog.

If you can afford it, do what’s best for you and your family 🙂 I would love to stay home but can’t really give up the license that I worked so hard for. Just glad that my current part time job is super flexible.
