How to Wear a Cocoon Cardigan for Summer

summer cardigan

Layers are my signature look and just because the temps are up doesn’t mean I move away from that. I recently got this cocoon cardigan from Sole Society, and wanted to share three ways to style it for summer.

This cardigan is one size fits most, and super versatile. Cocoon cardigans are good for summer because they give the layering look without adding too much extra bulk or warmth. I love shopping Sole Society because I feel like I can always find chic, versatile pieces like this.

Cocoon Cardigan With Utility Shorts

I think the initial fear with cocoon cardigans is you don’t want to look frumpy. So, wearing them with utility shorts which are baggier could be a faux-pas. But, if you pair them with a form-fitting top it totally works. The utility shorts I have here (size up if you’re usually between sizes) hit at a very flattering part of your waist and when paired with a tighter top, which is very figure-flattering without bringing extra attention to the midsection. I LOVE these shorts.

I’m wearing this with some platform sandals and a satchel in the same texture which ties the whole look together and makes it a little more chic while still being very comfortable.

Cocoon Cardigan with Button-Up Tank

There’s no shortage of button-up tanks this season, and they layer well under your favorite cardigans. I’m wearing this with what I call my “mom jeans.” These are the first pair of “mom jeans” I’ve found that I actually think are flattering! They fit true to size but I do wish I had gotten the tall size (I’m 5’11” for reference).

For accessories, I love the pop of leopard with these mules. Mules are a great transition shoe into fall…ugh…is it really time to consider the end of summer!?!?! I’m wearing it with a simple crossbody purse and a fun pair of statement earrings.

Cocoon Cardigan with a Dress

For the last look, a cocoon cardigan can be great over a dress. I actually like the way it can dress down a dress to make it a little more casual for daytime wear. This white dress, that fits true to size, could definitely be dressed up or down, it’s just all about the pieces you put with it. When you dress down a dress like this it’s best to go for a more casual shoe, too, to tie it all together. These slide sandals work perfectly (they fit true to size).

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend! I’ll be covering the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale later this week as well as Amazon Prime Day(s) – July 15th and 16th. Sign up for my newsletter if you want to see my top picks FIRST!

Thank you to Sole Society for partnering on this post.
