Easy Semi-Homemade Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

Easy DIY Mother's Day Gift Ideas | Homemade Mother's Day Framed Gift

I’m hoping today’s post will help some of you with a SUPER simple and affordable (semi) DIY Mother’s Day present. I love presents that have some type of DIY element, especially for Mother’s Day because they just feel so much more personal. Mom’s don’t usually want a perfectly packaged gift, but instead something that has a personalized touch. After doing a little searching on Pinterest (where all the best DIY inspiration comes from – you can follow my Pinterest endeavors here) I got inspired for this framed handprint art gift to give to my Mother-in-Law. Unfortunately I can’t find the original blog that created a similar handprint bouquet to credit them.

A then the gallery wall, when I saw how cute it turned out I wasn’t sure I could pass it on. I figured it could be like a treat yourself Mother’s Day gift!  So, I’ll be sharing two simple, custom Mother’s Days gifts you can create in no time with Framebridge.   Read all the way through for a special discount just for Pinteresting Plans readers!!

Framed Handprint Flowers

This DIY Mother’s Day gift is so simple to recreate…a handprint flower bouquet!

  • I started by dipping the boys’ hands in paint and then having them stamp it onto a piece of paper.  Don’t try painting their hands – it’s not enough paint (learned the hard way!!).
  • Wait for it to dry completely, then paint on some stems and little hearts for the center of the flower.
  • Finally, using a black marker we signed each of the boy’ names on their “flowers.”  When I say “we” – I added their names.  Mac can write his name but each letter is a few inches tall.

Now, children’s art is precious but so often it hangs on a fridge for a few weeks before getting filed away in a memories box. I wanted this gift to be more of a true gift and not just another paper for the fridge. By getting the piece custom framed it immediately makes it into something that can hang on your wall for years to come! I used Framebridge to get the custom art framed. It’s SO simple because all you need to do is send in the artwork with a label Framebridge provides and their team does the rest!

Framebridge will send you a prepaid shipper to safely ship your artwork to their studio. Next, they will send you suggestions of frames they think would look best for this piece of art (or you can decide yourself like I did). You confirm the frame (I selected the Monterey frame style) you want and they custom frame the entire piece for you!   The turnaround time was much faster than I expected.   No more trying to measure yourself, guess what size mats to get, and fumbling to put the framed artwork together.

I used Framebridge’s “Monterey” whitewashed frames for all of the photos/artwork I had framed because my interior style mimics my fashion tastes – simple and neutral.   Have you perhaps seen my Mother in law’s home on my Instagram stories?   It’s anything but simple and neutral ????.   I adore Jane but the 6 foot Egyptian statues in her living room aren’t quite my style.

We Heart You Photo Collage

Next up is this adorable photo collage I just HAD to have for myself. Sometimes moms gotta get their OWN Mother’s Day gifts, you know?  This was even easier than the first DIY and originally intended for my Mother in law.  She will appreciate some kind of faux fur or other glitzy gift instead alongside her framed artwork.

    • First, we made the three signs that say “We,” “U”, and one with a heart painted on it.
    • I then just snapped a picture of my boys holding the “We” sign.
    • Then I gave Cam the heart and Mac the “You,” and snapped two more pictures.
    • I liked the idea of doing them in black and white because my house and my wardrobe are not very colorful.

I took and edited these photos all right on my cell phone and then was able to upload them directly to Framebridge. No messing around ordering prints and then sending them off! Framebridge printed my digital images for me and framed them! It was SO easy even a husband could do it (I kid, I kid.)

We were so excited when our Framebridge packages arrived! My Mother-in-Law LOVED her flower handprint masterpiece. And the boys helped me hang the We Heart U collage in our entryway.
