Hi guys!   With Mother’s Day right around the corner I wanted to treat one of the most deserving moms in my life to a fun shopping spree.   Today I am partnering with Lord and Taylor to share a Mother’s Day makeover and some gift ideas from their Super Sale for the deserving moms in your life.

Mother’s Day Makeover

My parents divorced when I was in elementary school and my Dad remarried my stepmom (Susan) when I was in middle school.   He had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s several years before they met and was quite a bit older than her.    Fast forward over 20 years things have changed so much.

My Dad’s health has significantly worsened and my little brother is now in college.   Instead of enjoying their golden years traveling, Susan is a full time child psychologist by day and devoted wife 24/7.   My Dad requires 24 hour care.    If she wants to exercise, go out with a friend, or grocery shop, Susan coordinates care for my Dad.  He has dementia so that brings along extra challenges in addition to the mobility issues that result from the Parkinson’s.   Susan uses almost every minute of each day caring for someone else so I wanted to treat her to a new outfit from Lord and Taylor.

While a caretaker was available, Susan and I headed to the mall for a Mother’s Day wardrobe refresh.  Retail therapy is a good de-stress if you ask me!

I headed straight for the Design Lab section of our Lord and Taylor.   It’s a brand exclusive to Lord and Taylor and I always find good deals on items I love from this brand.   I convinced Susan to try this Design Lab hooded utility jacket and she was surprised how much she loved it!   It’s such a good layering piece for this unpredictable “Spring” weather we have in Connecticut.    When I saw how cute she looked in the olive utility jacket I had to grab the pink version for myself!   For size reference she is wearing size medium and I’m wearing XS.

My husband laughed when he saw us together because Susan’s outfit was so “me”.   If you remember from my Spring capsule wardrobe I think the utility jacket paired with skinny jeans is a no fail combo!  The light gray Design Lab skinny jeans are a great alternative to white or blue jeans for Spring.  Would you believe this is my step mom’s first time wearing skinny jeans?!?!   She went for a classic pair of Levi’s high rise skinny jeans and they look so good on her.  We braved the rain to grab these pictures and I have several other gift ideas from Lord and Taylor beyond our outfits.

Because the Design Lab tops are the best priced secret I MAY have brought another home with me.  Can you tell I’m into the eyelet trend? I love the mock layer tops! I paired this rose eyelet hem Design Lab sweatshirt with one of my all time favorite pairs of shorts, these Levi’s 501 cut-off’s.   These shorts run small, I would recommend sizing up.   Both pieces are currently part of the May Super Sale along with some other great option.
