Save or Splurge: Home Decor Edition

Save or Splurge: Home Decor Edition | Rattan Home Decor

As many of you know I’ve recently done some big renovations to my home. And, part of the fun of that is getting to decorate these new spaces! I wanted to share some SAVE vs. SPLURGE home decor items I’ve found. When it comes to decorating the house, I find there are some pieces it’s worth it to splurge on because they’ll last longer and be well-used. Other times, it doesn’t seem worth it to spend the extra money when you can find something basically identical for a fraction of the cost!

Beaded Chandelier

Beaded chandeliers are taking over home decor right now and are just such beautiful statement pieces. The “save” wooden beaded chandelier from Pottery Barn is gorgeous and I like the natural wooden style! Now if you want something a little extra, the splurge option has beautiful beads with gold veining.  It’s a total show stopper.

Rattan Dining Chair

Elegant, statement chairs make a dining room look instantly more upscale. And, I love the natural look of rattan chairs. The splurge option is a rattan chair with sweeping curves that make a huge statement. This chair is seriously gorgeous. But, if you want something a little more affordable, the save option saves you about $200 a chair.  The biggest difference I notice is the save option is a slightly more cool-toned color and doesn’t have quite as dramatic of a shape.

Rattan Arm Chair

If rattan isn’t your thing in the dining room (or doesn’t fit), rattan as a statement chair in the living room or bedroom is another great option. These chairs bring a nice, natural element into the space. Now, the splurge chair definitely makes a huge statement. But, if you’re not positive about the trend just yet and want to save $300, opt for the much cheaper Target option.

Round Hanging Wall Mirror

I love this style mirror because not only is it functional but it adds a decorative touch anywhere you place it. The splurge mirror has a nautical look, reminiscent of a ship’s porthole. But, if you’re looking for something a little more modest in both price and design (or nautical isn’t your thing), the save mirror is a great choice.

Natural Serving Tray

Serving trays can be used for decor but they are also functional! You can opt for the save option under $30 which is super gorgeous for the price! However, if your looking for a more high-end piece that’s truly timeless, then this caned design rattan tray might be for you.

Footstool

Footstools are pieces you can move around from room to room for various functions. Obviously, use them to kick up your feet, but they also work double duty as an additional seat or a small accent table! The save stool has a fun macrame top that I think is a little more trendy. The splurge stool has hand-woven natural fiber and a beautiful x-shaped base design which is a little more classic.

Rattan Side Table

I love the idea of adding a rattan side table in a room. It adds a natural touch next to upholstered pieces. The save table is a total steal and a very eye-catching table, it looks way more expensive than it is! But, if you’re looking for something a little more high end, the splurge table looks like a piece of art wherever you place it.

Backless Bench

Benches are insanely versatile. Use them at the end of your bed, pull them up to the dining room table, use them in an entryway, and more! The save option is a durable seagrass bench that would look good in tons of different spaces. If you want your bench to be more of a statement piece then this natural woven bench is worth the splurge.

Woven Dining Chair

Armless chairs are great for space-saving around the dining room table but that doesn’t mean they have to be boring. I love the look of woven chairs! You can go for the splurge option which is made with elegant leather and studded sides, or opt for the save chair from Target.
