A lot of you loved the last capsule wardrobe I did for work so I thought I’d share another for spring! While I don’t go into an office myself, I know a lot of you do and I wanted to offer some simple outfit pieces to make getting ready in the morning THAT much easier!
What’s a Capsule Wardrobe?
The idea of a capsule wardrobe is to group versatile, basic wardrobe pieces that can be restyled in many outfit combinations. For this rendition, I am sharing a wardrobe for work. The goal is to have a closet full (yet more empty) of items that are flexible and can be worn a variety of different ways. Fewer, but more versatile pieces makes getting dressed in the morning easier! This spring capsule wardrobe for work is in collaboration with Loft. Loft offers many pieces in petite and tall sizes and they also added a plus size line last year. They even have maternity sizes so there’s something for every BODY!

Outfit Ideas Using This Capsule Wardrobe
The first variation I wanted to show is a few ways to style a button up shirt. Here I have a Utility Blouse and what I love about having these in your closet is their versatility. You can always wear them the timeless way of tucking them into a nice pair of skinny black pants which always looks polished and professional. But if you want to have a little fun with it, try tying the shirt off at the waist instead. This gives the same type of silhouette, but just a little variation in the style and is something you can wear into the weekend as well. Another great way to wear this type of blouse is to pair it with a blazer. I thought it would be fun to do a little pattern mixing and paired this blue striped blouse with a thicker striped sweater blazer.
Another variation of the blazer outfit is to just wear it with a lace-trimmed cami underneath. This look is a little more casual. I really like this sweater blazer because while it gives the polished work look, the sweater material makes it way more comfortable than a lot of other workwear.
This next outfit features this adorable lace-hemmed sweatshirt. What I love about this top is the sweatshirt material so you feel like you’re in comfy loungewear, but the lace hem elevates the look. Throw it on with some skinny black pants, and you’re work-appropriate AND wearing a sweatshirt!
Ok, now we can take some pieces from the looks above and start to recreate new looks! Here I took those skinny black ankle pants (I sized down 1 full size) and the lace-trimmed cami and swapped the sweater blazer for an open cardigan. I love how this literally creates an entirely new look just by changing the top layer! That’s what capsule wardrobes are all about! Versatility, versatility, versatility!
Here’s another example of how just changing the top layer can create an entirely new outfit. I’ve switched out the open cardigan for a classic trench coat. Trench coats are musts for spring, especially in your work wardrobe. They are timeless and make any outfit look instantly polished. When the weather is all over the place, having a staple jacket like this in your closet is a must.
This last look is a fun way to bring some trendy pieces into your work wardrobe. This leopard puff sleeve top is definitely more of a trendy piece, but when paired with simple black pants and a neutral sling-back flat, it’s 100% work appropriate!
For reference on all the above pieces, I’m wearing mostly my usual size. I’m an XS or small in tops and wearing XS in all the tops shown in this post. In the skinny ankle fit pants I sized down a full pant size without issue. In the slim pencil fit pants I sized down and they were very fitted – which is how I like skinny pants, but they don’t run a whole size big in my opinion like the other pair. The cute cap toe shoes fit true to size.
