The idea of a capsule wardrobe is to invest in versatile pieces that can withstand the test of time. For example, you can visit past year’s spring capsule wardrobe and you will see that they are all pieces that are still in style now in 2020. Gap has a great selection of classic, timeless styles which is why I’ve built this year’s spring capsule wardrobe entirely from their women’s section.

How to Build a Capsule Wardrobe for Spring 2021
When putting together a capsule wardrobe, I follow these 3 simple steps:
- Clean out your closet. This is the first step. The purpose of a capsule wardrobe is to be intentional on what you have hanging in your closet. That means it would be a good idea to let go of those items that you’ve owned but haven’t worn in over a year or so. It will make space for the pieces you do love.
- Create a Pinterest board. This is especially a good idea if you’re a little iffy on what style you’re going for. Once you pin several images you like, you’ll start seeing a commonality of styles and colors. Look at the basic pieces you can restyle season to season. Is it mom jeans? V-necks or scoop necks? Do you like wearing more black than light neutrals? Now you have an idea on where you’ll start building your capsule wardrobe from.
- Make a shopping list. Now comes the fun part! It can be easy getting carried away when you’re online shopping. Making a list will keep you focused on only adding the necessities to your cart.
Here are the pieces I picked out for this year’s spring capsule wardrobe. Many are on sale!
