With the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2019 just a couple weeks away I wanted to share some tips for shopping this yearly event. If you follow fashion bloggers you will be sick of hearing about this sale by mid July, but it’s almost like the Black Friday of fashion so we tend to take it a bit too seriously :).
When Does The Sale Start?
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale starts on July 12th this year. And according to Nordstrom’s website it starts at 12:30 pm, which means I won’t have to wake up at 2 am like I’ve done the last 3 years on the first day of the sale.
The first week of the sale is open to Nordstrom cardholders only. If you don’t have a Nordstrom card you can sign up for one here. I COMPLETELY understand if you don’t want another card. The issue with my personal budget is restaurants more than retail, but I don’t want to encourage anyone who is having issues with debt to grab another credit card.
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2019 opens to the public on July 19th and ends on August 4th. I can tell you from past years the most popular items sell out in the first 36 hours and last year almost nothing restocked. I sense this is Nordstrom’s way of trying to grab more card holders.
Want To Preview The Sale?
You can check out the sale preview catalog online. Unlike most sales that take place at the end of the season, this Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is a pre-season sale. You can stock up on sweaters and boots you’ll want for fall which is sadly not too far off.
Make a List of What You Want/Need Before The Sale.
To keep your budget under control I would suggest making a list of what you plan to shop for ahead of time. The Nordstrom Anniversary is HUGE and spans not just fashion but beauty and home too. You could really get into trouble if you’re shopping for yourself, your kids, and your living room!
I find SHOES are the best buy but because of that they’re usually the first items to sell out. I’ve already started a list of a few things I plan to grab based on the preview catalog Nordstrom shared on their website. If you are into designer denim (I am not) that’s also a great place to catch a good deal.
What’s On My Wishlist?
I build a couple impulse purchases into my budget. Specifically home and cosmetic items! I have treated myself to a new throw blanket each year during the sale. I also like to try new lip products. A lot of cosmetic brands put together special bundles exclusive to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.
Here are a few things I saw in the catalog that I plan to grab. I’ll also be looking to see what Barefoot Dreams items they include this year.
1. Knee High Boots
2. Moto Boots
3. Teddy Coat
There will be several teddy coats included in the sale this year but the one in the preview catalog is yellow – so that won’t be my pick. If you haven’t tried this cozy trend the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale may be your chance to snag this cuddly coat.
4. Cardigans (including the trendy leopard one shown below)
If you like leopard here are some shoes that caught my eye!! Do I need another pair of wedge sneakers??
Other Items I’m considering….
- Peep toe booties (perfect to transition from summer to fall)
- UGG loafers (the catalog shows them in red which isn’t my style so I’m hoping they offer other colors). They’d be perfect to pair with jeggings for running the kids around.
- Adidas sneakers
- Slipper socks (hoping they include some good options, like the UGG pair. I live in slipper socks in colder months and because of that they last just one season.)
- I didn’t see any handbags in the preview catalog that peeked my interest but I’ll be sure to let you know here and on social media if I see any good buys.
