Top 3 Most Recommended Under Eye Concealers (Which Was Best?)

Top 3 Most Recommended Under Eye Concealers | Best Concealers for your 30's

Let’s just get one thing out there, I love concealer. I’m a mom of two boys and currently renovating my house (I have no shower at the moment). Concealer is as much a life necessity as water.

Recently, I ask you for your best concealer recommendations. I love turning to you guys for recommendations and have gotten amazing suggestions.   Facebook “fans” were the ones who first turned me on to Viylux weekly nail polish!  Today I decided I would share the top three most recommended under eye concealers you friends suggested and my personal thoughts on each one.

I applied all of these undereye concealers with my finger (or the Tarte concealer with the wand) and then blended them out with a damp beauty blender.   If you haven’t tried a beauty blender it’s something I use every time I wear makeup.   I set all the concealers in this post with the IT COSMETICS Bye Bye Pores pressed powder using the same damp beauty blender.   The pressed powder makes for easy/even application of as little powder as possible.   I find powder ages my skin since it tends to be drying but without it my makeup would sweat right off (we are mid-Summer at the moment).

Best Under Eye Concealers | It Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye Concealer

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye Concealer

Pictured: I use the shade “medium.” Pictured here is the trial size which is why it’s so small. Full size much larger at 0.28 oz

Product Claims: It Cosmetics calls this their #1 best-selling, award-winning under eye concealer. They claim that it is full-coverage and so highly pigmented that it “covers everything, including dark circles, bags, redness, hyperpigmentation, broken capillaries, age spots, and discoloration.” It also claims to never crease. This concealer is made with anti-aging ingredients including hydrolyzed collagen, peptides, and hyaluronic acid which they say means it is “clinically shown to make your skin look younger.”

My Thoughts: This concealer goes on super thick and creamy so you don’t need much at all. A little bit definitely goes a long way. It’s also very pigmented, so you easily get full coverage every time. It’s more moisturizing and “wet” than most concealers, which great if you struggle with dry skin. But, because of this it also tends to smudge a bit more. I struggle with this most on the darkest part of my under eyes, especially because I tend to touch/rub my eyes (tired mom things). I’d say because of the consistency, this is definitely a concealer you have to set with some type of powder, otherwise, you will end up with smudging.

One final benefit of this concealer is because it’s from It Cosmetics, you know it’s designed to be good for your skin which is a huge perk on a product you’re putting on the sensitive undereye area. I love knowing that it’s formulated with anti-aging ingredients so I’m not just concealing but also doing good for my skin.

Overall, this concealer came in at a VERY CLOSE second for me. I struggle a little with the consistency because it’s a little more wet and prone to smudging.  But, I love the full coverage and moisturizing properties. I’ll definitely use this one more in the winter than summer because my skin is drier and I have to worry less about oily skin or sweat.

Top Rated Under Eye Concealers | Tarte Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Contour Concealer

Tarte Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Contour Concealer

Pictured: In the Summer, when I have a (faux plus) tan, I wear the color Light-Medium Honey. In the Winter I wear the color Fair Neutral. I also will wear Fair Neutral as a brightener under my other concealer in the Summer if I’m headed out for a night out.

Product Claims: Tarte claims that this is America’s #1 under eye concealer. It says that the super-blendable formula helps to smooth the look of your skin in a super natural finish. It also boasts that it’s a brightening concealer designed to illuminate skin for a more “lifted” look.

My Thoughts: This concealer has become my go-to concealer and so I wasn’t surprised that so many of you recommended it as well. It comes in an over-sized doe-foot applicator that I really like. I think the formula gives good coverage and has the best staying power of the three in this post. A little definitely goes a long way, but it’s not quite as creamy as the It Cosmetics one, which means you can control the coverage a little bit better.

This concealer is not super moisturizing so if I’m struggling with any dry skin it can sometimes crease just below my bottom lash line and settle into those pesky fine lines. I usually try not to apply it too close to my lower lash line to avoid this. It definitely finishes more matte, so you can usually get away without having to set it. However, in the summer a quick makeup setting spray is always a good idea.

Overall, it’s hard to go wrong with this concealer. It has amazing coverage, a middle-of-the-road finish (not too dry, not too wet) and applies and blends really easily. One final note is this concealer comes in TONS of colors, so finding your perfect shade is a lot easier compared to It Cosmetics which only offers 6 shades.

Best Under Eye Concealers for Your 30's | Mac Prolongwear Concealer

MAC Pro Longwear Concealer

Pictured: I have the shade NC25, but probably could have gone one shade lighter.

Product Claims: MAC calls this a lightweight, fluid concealer that provides medium to full coverage. It’s supposed to last 15 hours and be water and transfer resistant. Like the Tarte concealer, you get a lot of color shade options as well which is nice.

My Thoughts: Of the three concealers, this was my least favorite. I won’t be repurchasing it. However, a lot of you recommended it as your favorite, so let me tell you why I didn’t like it.

First, let’s just talk about packaging. I didn’t love that it was a pump dispenser because I found it difficult not to pump too much and end up wasting some. It’s also a glass container which might seem fancy but all I can envision is dropping it on my bathroom floor and it shattering everywhere.

As far as the product, I personally didn’t find it quite thick enough. It’s nice that they wanted to create something lightweight, but it was almost too fluid, meaning it wasn’t as full-coverage as I prefer. It’s staying power was OK, but I didn’t find it any better than the Tarte one considering its claims of long-lasting wear.

If you’re someone who prefers a lighter coverage in a lightweight formula, I can see how you might like this. But, if you’re like me and prefer full-coverage that’s going to hide those dark circles all day long, you’ll likely also find it falls flat. I think this one comes down to your personal preference on concealer.
