If the sudden appearance of candy corn at your grocery stores and pumpkin decor at the mall didn’t give it away, Fall is right around the corner. And while I’m still soaking up the Summer, I’m always looking forward to the upcoming seasons. In Connecticut, the next few months will be all about transitional Fall style. These are outfits that can take you from the slightly warmer afternoons into the nights that have a little bit of a chill in the air. In New England, September and October days can range in temperature from the 30’s to the 90’s!
While most of us initially think about burgundy, mustard, tans, and army greens in Fall, I always like to find ways to wear my beloved neutrals. So, today I’m partnering up with Lord & Taylor to share a neutral transitional look for Fall. Lord and Taylor has so many great Fall wardrobe staples ON SALE right now!
This outfit is also transitional because, as you’ll see, by simply swapping out the shoes and top you can bring it from daytime errands to date night ready. Let’s start with the staples of this outfit. The showstopper item to me is this amazing blush suede moto jacket. I love this jacket so much that I have it in multiple colors – it’s a true closet staple. I particularly love that this one is not one of the traditional Fall colors, which keeps it more light and feminine. If you’re not sure what size to get and are usually between sizes, I suggest you size up. I am usually x-small or small, and have this jacket in several colors in small and it fits perfect.
Next, are these Mango Kim Skinny Jeans. They are an essential skinny jean with a unique wash and some distressed details like the frayed hem and small rips. A great everyday pair of jeans with just the right trendy flair! I prefer my skinny jeans to fit snug and hold their shape. These Mango Kim Skinny jeans fit snug in your true size and they hold their shape really well throughout the day (unlike some jeans that stretch out throughout the day). They appear a little bit lighter than the true color in these pictures because I brighten the photos during editing.
Lastly, is this Calvin Klein Pebbled Leather Crossbody. A neutral crossbody like this never goes out of style and can be worn a million different ways. It’s the perfect accessory for a neutral fall look like this.
For my more casual, daytime look I’m wearing a Kensie Classic V-Neck Top. This tee is flowy, so order your own size for a loose fit.
Then, I’m pairing it all with Reebok Classic Leather Sneakers in pink! If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you know I surpassed the closet limit for pink sneakers in 2017. I love the classic style of these sneakers, but they are also trendy enough to be worn with something like a moto jacket. They are super comfortable and amazingly versatile! I bought my normal size in these shoes.
A simple way to move this outfit from day to night is to swap out the basic t-shirt for a satin camisole, this is the Mango Satin Camisole in XS. The satin gives the outfit a little more of a dressy vibe. And, if you take your jacket off during the night, you still look dressed up. Like the t-shirt, it fits looser, so order your normal size for a flowy fit.
Then, of course, nothing seamlessly dresses up an outfit like a classic pair of nude pumps (actually, they’re blush, but that’s a nude in my book). These Steve Madden Daisie Classic Pumps are a staple you’ll wear time and time again. Steve Madden shoes always run a little small on me so I size up a 1/2 size. These look MUCH more high end than the price tag.
