I love to explore fashion trends each season but it’s not a place I invest in my wardrobe. “Trendy is the last stage before tacky” as Karl Lagerfeld said. Some trends are so out there I couldn’t even imagine wearing them while others are fun to incorporate alongside my everyday staples. Today I wanted to spotlight my 6 favorite wearable fall fashion trends for 2021.
1. Fall Sweater Vests
Some trends carry over for a couple seasons but this wasn’t one I dabbled in too much last year. So the sweater vest trend is new to me but I am here for it! Many options can be worn alone as sweater tanks or layered over shirts and dresses. Here are some examples of some I have loved and styled this season:
This first one is from Amazon and also included it in my Amazon Fall Capsule Wardrobe 2021. The quality is nice and it’s relaxed without being baggy or boxy fitting. I have this sweater vest in size XS.
This second one is tunic length (I am also wearing XS in this sweater vest) and it’s one of my favorite purchases for fall.

2. Flare Jeans
I am a denim lover so I am willing to try almost anything when it comes to jeans! Paired with heels, flare jeans give a major leg lengthening look! The two pairs of flare jeans I’m sharing below are available in different lengths so perfect for petite and tall women who may have trouble finding jeans that fit.
My favorite pair because of it’s length is this Spanx option that I’m wearing in XS tall. I have a discount code you can use on the Spanx website for 10% off and free shipping and returns: RACHELXSPANX.
Express also makes a lighter wash in long and short inseams but the tall option doesn’t have quite as long of an inseam as the Spanx pair does.

3. Lug Sole Boots
I am excited about this trend. A chunky sole reminds me of the Doc Martin combat boots I wore in middle school. I ordered a pair from Amazon a few weeks ago that should be arriving any day. The pair in the photo below is only $25 which is a GREAT price point to try a trend.

4. Knit Loungewear
The knit loungewear trend will certainly carry over into winter. Who doesn’t love a comfy, cozy trend like this?

5. Tailored Blazers
Not just for the office, tailored blazers styled with skinny jeans is a chic outfit for fall. Whether you prefer solids or want to go bold with prints like plaid and houndstooth, this fall trend can be styled from date night to the office.

There are several jacket trends but shackets (shirt jackets) are my favorite! Especially having moved to Florida, it doesn’t get chilly until later in the year here so this mid weight option will be perfect. My favorite way to style a shacket is with a pair of leggings or skinny jeans. I am wearing XS in the shackets shown below.

There are far more trends to consider but be choosy! Fashion is how you present yourself to the world so make sure you feel CONFIDENT in your outfit. Color saturation is a big trend for fall but I am not someone who loves to wear a lot of color so it’s one I am passing on because I know I’d feel a little unsure when presenting myself in bright colors. For winter I am excited to see that SLOPE STYLE (or as I call it, après ski style) is still trending.
